BBC to chop one 'Blue Peter' per week?

The flagship children's show is under review and, reports the Daily Mirror, CBBC controller Richard Deverell and deputy Anne Gilchrist will axe an episode a week and reduce the length of each series.
"They have been told to squeeze the budgets and have decided that the best way to do this is to have two shows a week rather than three," explained a source. "There are also plans to cut the length of each series. It's very sad to diminish it in this way."
A corporation spokesman said no decision had yet been made. "CBBC's long-running formats are looked at regularly to check they are still working," he added. "Editors change, presenters change and sometimes the show changes."
