MTV Movie Award Nominations

By
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and The Matrix have both scooped six nominations for the 2000 MTV Movie Awards. Other films with multiple nominations include Cruel Intentions, American Pie, The Sixth Sense and American Beauty. The winners will be announced at the "2000 MTV Movie Awards" which will be taped on June 3rd at the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, CA, for broadcast on MTV in the UK on June 10th at 10pm. This year's nominees will be highlighted during the "MTV Movie Awards Nomination Special" hosted by MTV's Carson Daly and Chris Connelly with a special appearance from this year's MTV Movie Awards host Sarah Jessica Parker on May 6th at 10.30pm.

"Young Hollywood has arrived! Consequently, this year's nominees reflect the young stars from Wes Bentley to Hilary Swank to Jason Biggs that have broken through and have been embraced by the MTV audience" says Judy McGrath, President, MTV. "These talented young stars will soon reap the box office successes of Hollywood favourites such as Bruce Willis, Tom Hanks, and Kevin Spacey."

The unconventional categories, film spoofs and musical performances by up-and-coming as well as established artists clearly set the MTV Movie Awards apart from traditional ceremonies. The "2000 MTV Movie Awards" will also feature a new category, "Best Musical Performance." The show also features a star-studded line-up of presenters and performers.
