Pop Idol: Darius voted off
Published Saturday, Feb 2 2002, 21:42 GMT | By Neil Wilkes
Darius Danesh has been eliminated from ITV's Pop Idol.

The 21-year-old received 20.9% of the 5.8 million votes cast in favour of his performances of Toploader's "Dancin' in the Moonlight" and The Walker Brothers' "Make it Easy on Yourself".
Fellow finalists Gareth Gates and Will Young notched up 39.8% and 39.3% of votes, separated by just 29,000. Who scored which was not revealed, however.
Darius, a student from Glasgow, said after the show: "I once said my dream was to have a platinum album by the age of 35. Over a million people voted for me and if those votes were translated into album sales, I'd have my platinum album already!"
The Pop Idol final airs this Saturday at 19.10 on ITV1; stick with Digital Spy for continued coverage.
