Boomerang gets its own 'Spy' Family

By
My Spy Family, a brand new live action comedy series for kids aged 6 - 14, will run on digital channel Boomerang from September.

The new series is a co-production between Turner Broadcasting and Kindle Entertainment, the independent production company to have emerged from the closure of ITV Productions, Kids.

The show marks a major investment for Turner in live action at a time when many broadcasters are reviewing their commitment to children's programming.

The spy series centres around the Bannon family who, after a lifetime roaming international trouble-spots now find themselves in a house somewhere in the Midlands.

Anne Brogan, director of Kindle Entertainment and former controller of ITV Kids added: "My Spy Family is a truly exciting show and we are delighted that Turner recognise the need for strong live action comedy in kids' programming. My Spy Family has a broad appeal which stems from the fantastic writing, brilliant cast and phenomenal production team."

Paul Alexander is the creative talent behind the show and brings a wealth of fantastic writing experience, having written for a range of shows including the hugely popular, My Parents are Aliens, My Family and My Hero.

Cecilia Persson, vice president of programming, acquisition and presentation for Turner Kids said: "My Spy Family marks a major investment in new comedy content for Boomerang. Following on from the recent opening of the Cartoon Network Development Studios in the UK, we're pleased to be able to continue our support of original UK kids' programming by commissioning a series that promises to have an abundance of humour and appeal."
