Liza Tarbuck to quit Big Breakfast

Liza Tarbuck has today announced that she will quit as host of Channel 4's flagship morning show 'The Big Breakfast', when her contract ends in August.

Explaining her decision, she said, "It's hard getting up at 4am - you feel like an exiled monarch. I need some time to catch up with all my mates all over the country".

Liza presents the daily show with long-time friend Johnny Vaughan, who is also quitting the show later this year to concentrate his time on his first child, expected in August.

Liza took over as main female presenter in September last year, after Kelly Brook was publicly sacked for being incompetent.

Liza's replacement has not yet been decided upon - although those in the running include Donna Air, Gail Porter (both of whom currently present other parts of the show), Caprice, Kate Heavonor and Katy Hill.
