Sunday: "The Jury" makes strong debut

BBC One's coverage of the FA Cup fifth round clash between Newcastle United and Manchester City averaged 6.6m (28.3%) over 130 minutes starting 18.50, according to early overnights. At 21.00, Outside The Rules lost out to the ITV opposition, opening with just 4.6m (19.9%).

ITV1 managed a comfortable peaktime victory, beginning with 10.6m (45.4%) for Coronation Street at 19.30. Half an hour later, Millionaire? drew 8.9m (37.4%), followed by 9.4m (38.2%) for Heartbeat at 20.30. New drama The Jury (previewed on Digital Spy here) opened impressively with an average of 7.8m (37.0%) over an hour starting 21.30.

Earlier in the evening, Michael Barrymore's My Kind of Music was up 0.6m to 5.8m and a 24.3% share.

On Channel 4, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later premiered with 1.7m (12%) over 95 minutes starting 22.00, beating BBC2's film repeat Born on the Fourth of July, which averaged 1.4m (11%) over 135 minutes.

Overall during primetime, ITV1 remained on top, albeit down 0.5m to 8.7m and a 37.9% share, compared to BBC One's 5.7m (24.8%). C4 was third with 1.8m (8.0%), followed by BBC Two with 1.6m (7.1%) and Channel 5 with 1.4m (5.9%).
