Ferdinand's prank show axed by ITV

ITV executives have axed Rio Ferdinand's All-Star Wind-Ups show - following a number of filming disasters.

The show got off to a poor star last month when Jayne Middlemiss needed medical attention after being targeted. Producers had trapped the TV presenter in a lift, without realising that she suffers from claustrophobia.

A second stunt involving former EastEnders star Dean Gaffney also went badly. Executives tried to 'kidnap' the actor in a limo, however, not only did he rumble the trick, but hidden cameras failed to pick up any footage of the incident.

Actor Shane Richie also foiled a plan to create the wreckage of a helicopter crash in his garden.

The series was due to start airing later this month, but ITV have now decided to pull the plug.

A source told The Sun: "It seems to have, ahem, slipped out of the schedules. Everything was just going wrong and we could not see there was a way to salvage the show."

An ITV spokesman confirmed: "The production did not work on our timeline."
