'Brothers And Sisters' / ABC
The Ally McBeal actress put her career on hold in 2002 to adopt a child, and Flockhart admits she loves being a mum.
She told Reveal magazine: "I've got zero ambition now - it just disappeared.
"It used to be just me and my career was everything. Now it's about him. I think anybody who had a child can tell you being a parent changes everything."
Flockhart returned to TV screens in Channel 4's latest US import Brothers and Sisters.
Speaking about the family drama, she said: "It was good for me to start working again. In a perfect world Brothers and Sisters would have been six months later because Liam starting nursery was very emotional for me.
"It doesn't sound like a big deal, but it was for him and for me. I went through a period of mourning."
