Solectron to make boxes for Pace Micro

Pace Micro Technology, the set-top-box manufacturer that yesterday announced revenue warnings, has signed a three-year contract with Solectron, Inc. The deal will see Solectron provide design and manufacturing services for Pace.
According to news wire service Reuters, the California-based company will begin volume production of STBs in April, with the target of reaching full volume in Europe by the summer. It will be the primary provider of STBs to Pace.
As reported here on Digital Spy yesterday, Pace has issued its third profit warning in six months, with capital expenditure cuts at the UK's cable operators causing the company severe financial problems. It expects to recover in the next financial year.
