Published Tuesday, May 2 2000, 00:00 BST | By Neil Wilkes
Jetting in to the Cote d'Azur for the 53rd annual Cannes Film Festival, MTV once again focuses its cameras on all the behind-the-scenes movie news, gossip, parties, and premieres at Europe's biggest and most glamorous festival, running from 10-21 May and dedicated to the best of movie magic, celluloid celebrity, and a veritable who's who of the international film industry.

MTV crews will be delving into all the action both on and off the Croisette to capture the cream of the movie world partying and schmoozing the Festival away. The Cannes Daily Reports promise to keep you up-to-date with all the gossip, while The MTV Cannes Movie Special, airing across Europe to 80 million households between 27 May - 17 June, takes a special in-depth look at the history of the event, together with all the hottest movie action.

In the midst of all the excitement, the annual MTV Film Festival Party, one of the most eagerly awaited events of the Cannes calendar returns to the Croisette on Saturday 13 May. With just over 1000 guests expected at the Carlton Hotel Beach Jetty, the event looks set to reach even greater heights of exuberance with special guests and huge international hip hop legends De La Soul performing live and exclusive on stage.

The multi-million selling artists, flying in especially for the unique MTV bash, are expected to bring the Croisette to a standstill with a wicked party set including all the old classics and some upbeat new joints from their latest album, 'Art Official Intelligence' (to be released on 17 July 2000), making the MTV party the hottest ticket in town! With top international DJs to be announced closer to the event also performing live, it looks like the MTV party will have the coolest vibe in Cannes!

Last year, guests were treated to a blistering performance by soul/disco diva Jocelyn Brown and the world-renowned turntable skills of Armand van Helden and Erick Morillo.. Guests including Nick Moran, Sean Connery, Jon Bon Jovi, and Kirsten Dunst partied the night away till the small hours.

Exclusive scenes from the MTV Film Festival Party will also feature in the MTV at Cannes Movie Special.
