Coronation Street actor Scott Wright is to leave the ITV soap at the end of May, it has been confirmed.
Wright, who plays garage mechanic Sam Kingston, will not have his contract renewed after over two years in the role.
"It is time to move on," he said. "I originally came in for four episodes which turned into the most brilliant two years. I have had a fantastic time in the show."
A spokeswoman for the show said: "He has just signed a three-month contract but once that comes to an end he will be leaving the show. No decision has been made to replace that sort of character."
