BBC Drama has announced it is to produce a feature length film based on Noel Streatfeild's classic novel Ballet Shoes.
The story is set in 1930s London and follows three orphans who are adopted by an eccentric explorer called Gum, who are each trying to fulfill their own dreams.
Victoria Wood, Richard Griffiths and Marc Warren have signed up to the Granada production to air on BBC One later this year but the roles of the sisters are yet to be auditioned.
Head of Drama at BBC Northern Ireland, Patrick Spence said: "Ballet Shoes has been loved by generations of readers, and is cherished throughout the world. The Fossil sisters don't just touch hearts, they steal them."
Ballet Shoes will be directed by Sandra Goldbacher of The Governess and produced by Housewife, 49's Piers Wenger and is due to begin shooting in August.
