Clubbers steal Teletubbies
Published Tuesday, Jul 31 2007, 19:05 BST | By Dave West
Clubbers stole wax models of the Teletubbies, Hannibal Lecter and Freddie Krueger from a storeroom.
The sculptures had been in warehouse storage since Ireland's National Wax Museum closed in 2005 - but were due to be rehomed in coming years.
They were taken during a rave at an attached warehouse. Other items taken and damaged included uniforms from Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin and models of the Irish 1916 Easter Rising.
Kay Murray, museum manager said the incident was vandalism.
She added: "Our exhibition was in a storeroom off the main building but all they had to do was break down a door. It was under lock and key but the door was forced open."
A new site for the museum is due to be announced in coming weeks and Murray said she hoped the collection could be restored. "All I want is that whoever has our stuff to please return it to us."
