BBC: No 'Tomorrow's World' return
Published Tuesday, Aug 7 2007, 12:01 BST | By Joanne Oatts
The BBC has said that there are no plans to bring back Tomorrow's World, the weekly science and technology series that finished in 2003.
The show began in 1965, with Raymond Baxter, Anna Ford, Judith Hann, Howard Stableford, Carol Vorderman, Philippa Forrester and Peter Snow among its presenters over the years. As well as giving the British public a first glimpse of new innovations like the pocket calculator and the personal stereo, it was often remembered for its live demonstrations which occasionally went wrong, after "working perfectly in rehearsals."
Recent reports had suggested a revival of the show was being muted by BBC executives. Though the series is not returning, the BBC has said that BBC News and BBC Breakfast would be using the Tomorrow's World format in its programmes.
Former presenter Maggie Philbin has already hosted Tomorrow's World segments on BBC One and BBC News 24 this year.
