Channel 4's new breakfast show will start on April 29, Digital Spy can confirm.

RI:SE will broadcast each weekday between 6.55am and 9am; a start 5 minutes earlier than predecessor The Big Breakfast, in order to broadcast the first news bulletin promptly at 7am after the introduction.

The seven-strong presenting team will provide a "fresh and distinctive mix" of entertainment, news and sport. Sky Sports' Mark Durden-Smith will be the main anchor of the show, which is being positioned as a more serious rival to the likes of ITV's GMTV and the BBC's Breakfast.
