Monty Python's Flying Circus has been named as having the most influence on today's television comedy.
A survey of 4,000 people that was carried out by UKTV Gold showed that the programme deserved the title, receiving 26% of the vote.
The show can be thanked for influencing sketches in modern comedies such as Little Britain and the Mighty Boosh.
