Avalon International has done a deal with US cable network Ovation TV for its series of musical adaptations of TV shows, Kombat Opera Presents...
The series is being shown in the US this week, starting with a version of Wife Swap called Spouse Change, and The Applicants, a musical version of the The Apprentice.
Originally shown on BBC Two in the UK in February, the series was written by the co-wrtiter of Jerry Springer The Opera, Richard Thomas, and produced by Avalon Television.
Bravo! in Canada is also to show the series this autumn. "Kombat Opera is one of the most unusual musical performance series to be telecast on Bravo! I think it epitomizes what Bravo! is all about - an arts channel saluting pop culture in a different, amusing and intelligent way, " said said Ismé Bennie, director of programming and acquisitions for Bravo.
