BBC speaks out on News 24 graphics

A new graphics set was introduced to the BBC's 24-hour rolling news channel last week; bolder, brighter and larger, the new look has attracted mixed reviews from viewers. We spoke to the corporation and asked them why they've changed the look of News 24.

"The new graphics were introduced to News 24 to refresh the look of the channel," explained the BBC's Kate Edwards, adding: "All changes are in line with BBC News branding - in terms of colour, style, values."

Problems were experienced with the new look, a fact that has been acknowledged: "Some problems have been experienced with the alignment of the clock - News 24 Presentation are working on this and it is expected to be resolved when a new graphic suite comes fully on-line in the next few weeks."

There have also been problems with graphics not maintaining continuity when, for example, programmes such as BBC World News are shown on the channel. However, a solution is on the way: "BBC World are due to take the graphics in the coming weeks, which again should improve continuity."
