Ant and Dec to give away ad break
Published Saturday, May 11 2002, 16:55 BST | By James Welsh
Ant and Dec are set to hand over the contents of an ITV1 commercial break to a "lucky" audience member as one of the prizes on their new primetime show, which is currently in pre-production at Granada Entertainment.
The jackpot would be a selection of prizes from a randomly-selected advert break from the past week on the network. In a gambling "twist", the viewer could lose it all in favour for just one of the products advertised.
The show is set to be transmitted later this year. Duncan Gray, Granada's Controller of International Formats and Entertainment, said: "This is a powerful idea for the country’s most exciting live television performers. We hope it will very quickly become talked-about television."
Ant and Dec added: "We're incredibly excited to be part of such a revolutionary new TV show. We love the idea that someone could walk away with the most exciting prize package on television, or just a sorry pack of bog rolls! Live TV is what we love doing most and it gives us a great opportunity to pack the show full of prizes and surprises."
