Marco invites 3.6 million to 'Hell's Kitchen'

The ratings show a mediocre start for the fiery chef, as the the first episodes of the previous two series, achieved much better ratings. Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen started with 7 million viewers in 2004 and Gary Rhodes and Jean-Christophe Novelli's series pulled in 5.9 million viewers for its debut in 2005.
BBC One's Silent Witness beat the celebrity cooking show with 6.5 million viewers and a 30% at 9pm.
Another new cookery programme - Nigella Lawson's Nigella Express - on BBC Two at 8.30pm managed a healthy 2.7 million and a 12% share in comparison to Marco, but was overshadowed by ITV1's Coronation Street with 8.9 million and a 39% share in the same slot.
