Published Tuesday, Sep 4 2007, 12:54 BST | By Joanne Oatts

Among the 80 artists planned to play across eight different venues will be Mark Ronson, performing reworked tracks from his Version album, and Japanese club jazz band Soil & Pimp Sessions dueting with pianist Jamie Cullum.
The Kaiser Chiefs will join David Arnold, known for his work on James Bond scores, to create new arrangements for the band's songs
Arnold said: "Hopefully, under the umbrella of the Electric Proms, we can throw away the rule book of what you can or can't do with a rock band and a bunch of musicians that you may not expect to see on stage with them."
Further artists and performances will be announced in the next week. The festival will be aired online and on BBC Two, with extra performances available throughout the festival through the red button function. Last year over 250,000 people visited the Electric Proms website with over 850,000 requests to watch performances.
Live and recorded broadcasts from all areas of the festival on will be broadcast on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC 1Xtra, BBC 6 Music, BBC Asian Network and BBC World Service.
Festival director, Lorna Clarke said: "I am delighted that the first artists on this year's line-up have embraced the central challenge of the Electric Proms – to create new moments in music. I know that they will give our broadcast audiences across the country something truly special."
Tickets for the live shows will be on sale from noon on September 12 2007.
