BBC soap Eastenders fended off competition from ITV's Coronation Street at the British Soap Awards on Saturday evening to take home the title of 'Best British Soap'. The programme also won a similar award at the TV BAFTA Awards earlier this month.
Six more awards were taken by EastEnders, including Joe Absolom as 'Best Soap Actor', and Patsy Palmer as 'Best Soap Actress'.
Meanwhile, Coronation Street were victor of the 'Best Storyline' award for Sarah-Loiuse's contoversial teenage pregnancy.
