Lion to reveal Silbury Hill for BBC Four
The one-hour archaeological documentary will look into the final exploration of the interior of Silbury Hill in Wiltshire. English Heritage has granted Lion exclusive access to the Hill and the work of its archaeologists and engineers.
Coast's Neil Oliver and social anthropologist Mary-Ann Ochota from Castaway will attempt to uncover why Silbury Hill was built as well as discover the story of the people who helped build it.
Bill Locke, executive producer for Lion Television said: "There is a fascinating story to be told about the people who built Silbury Hill. These were sophisticated people, whose beliefs drove them to sculpt the landscape of the Avebury area, leaving a legacy of great structures. Why they built the hill has remained a mystery for thousands of years, but now we are starting to understand the extraordinary times in which they lived; a world on the cusp of great change."
