ITV has commissioned a three-part conspiracy thriller starring James Nesbitt from Carnival Films.
Midnight Man, to air on ITV1, was written by David Kane (Sea of Souls). The mini-series will follow former journalist Max Raban, played by Nesbitt, who has been reduced to rifling through bins belonging to celebrities for stories. However, he uncovers disturbing information that leads him into a world of deceit and distrust.
ITV drama director Lisa Mackie said: "David Kane's Midnight Man is an intelligent, modern, slick thriller from the award-winning Carnival Films which combines the seedy underbelly of news information gathering with the dirty world of international conspiracy."
Carnival Films' managing director Gareth Neame added: "David Kane has created a magnificently unlikely hero in Max and I'm excited to see James Nesbitt play him. Midnight Man is a smart and sophisticated thriller which will take audiences on a journey of suspense, intrigue and suspicion. It provides a modern twist on the traditional conspiracy thriller, with a strong character element and adds to Carnival's portfolio of high quality contemporary series."
