Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix heads the nominations for this year's BAFTA Children's Awards.

The movie - the fifth instalment of the series - has been shortlisted for best feature film and video game, as well as the Electronic Arts-sponsored BAFTA Kids' Vote award.

It will face films including Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Spider-Man 3 and the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie for the Kids' Vote gong, the only award selected by the public.

In the best movie category, the boy wizard is up against animation movies Happy Feet and Flushed Away, and fantasy novel adaptation Bridge to Terabithia.

Byker Grove, My Life As A Popat, That Summer Day and Jackanory - The Magician of Samarkand will compete in the best drama category, while Art Attack host Neil Buchanan is in line for best presenter for the sixth time.

BAFTA children's committee chairwoman Jocelyn Stevenson said: "Our children deserve a varied diet of genres and formats, but as we now officially know from the Ofcom report on the Future of Children's Television, indigenous drama and factual programming are endangered, heading for extinction.

"These nominations highlight the enormous amount of talent and expertise we have in the UK in children's media - and what it is we must fight to protect."

The awards will be hosted by Keith Chegwin at the London Hilton, Park Lane, on November 25.
