ITV commissions 'Britain Sings Christmas'

ITV has commissioned Endemol's Initial arm to produce Britain Sings Christmas, featuring a 20-strong celebrity choir performing Christmas classics.

The songs performed by the choir - which includes Jo Brand, Gaby Roslin, Craig Doyle and Blue's Antony Costa - will be shown on big screens across the country.

A special launch show hosted by Kate Thornton on ITV1 will showcase the top ten songs and ask viewers to vote for their favourite, and a follow-up will reveal the winning tune. All net profits from the phone voting - and digital downloads of the songs - will go directly to The Prince's Trust.

"This is the kind of big upbeat entertainment show that family audiences love at Christmas," said Initial creative director Nick Samwell-Smith. "It will have huge feel good factor, great celebrity names and will be packed with the nation's favourite Christmas anthems."
