Hour-long London Talking, on ITV1, will be presented as an alternative to David Dimbleby's BBC One rival.
Huq will be joined by Nick Ferrari and Vanessa Feltz after she leaves the children's show in February.
"I can't quite believe I will be going against David Dimbleby," she commented. "The show is not going to be as high brow as Question Time."
She said previously: "When the time comes for my last show I'll be really sad. But I will have been here for over ten years which is a Blue Peter record."
