Hasselhoff returns to 'Knight Rider'?

Rex Features

David Hasselhoff is reportedly in talks to star in the upcoming Knight Rider television movie.

The Hollywood Reporter claims that the actor, affectionately referred to as 'The Hoff' by his loyal fan base, is in discussions with broadcaster NBC about reprising his role as Michael Knight - a part that propelled him to megastardom in the mid 1980s. Knight, a former cop, joined forces with a talking car called KITT to tackle all manner of evils in the show. However, it is believed that Hasselhoff, who recently suffered a relapse in his fight against alcoholism, is likely only to be cast in a cameo role.

The two-hour film is set to be a sequel to the original series, rather than a remake. The lead role has already been announced, with Justin Bruening starring as Knight's estranged son Mike.
