'Peep Show' scoops Comedy Awards

Peep Show was one of the big winners at the British Comedy Awards 2007, which were held at London's Television Centre last night.

The Channel 4 show bagged the Best TV Comedy gong, while David Mitchell took away the Best Actor award.

BBC 3's Gavin & Stacey took home three accolades on the night, including Best New British TV Comedy.

The show's stars James Corden and Ruth Jones were awarded the Best Male Newcomer and Best Female Newcomer.

The Friday Night Project host Alan Carr was named Best Stand Up and Hot Fuzz creator Simon Pegg was given the Writers' Guild Ronnie Barker Award.

Veteran comedy star Stephen Fry was given the Lifetime Achievement Award.
