ITV1 has commissioned a second series of Beat: Life on the Street.

The Twofour and Grand Central production will once again follow neighbourhood policing teams in Oxford and Lancashire, from inspectors and sergeants to police officers and police community support officers.

"Beat: Life On The Street aims to find out what makes a community police officer tick," said executive producer Joe Houlihan. "It will bring home the daily reality of officers’ dealings at street level with people. How they react to their concerns and tackle problems that impact on lives, such as low-level crime, graffiti, vandalism, yobbishness and car crime."

The series is funded by the Central Office of Information, the government's marketing and publicity body.

"This is a fantastic example of a successful branded content series in peak-time on ITV1," said Nicky Buss, customer relations director at ITV. "We were delighted that it recently won the Media Week Grand Prix and that a second series has been commissioned – a great result for the client and for us. ITV’s Customer Relations team has been working closely with the COI to develop a number of additional opportunities for this next series with online web chats and interactive content."
