Walliams to play Frankie Howerd

He said Howerd was one of his comedy heroes so it was a "dream role".
"I have been a lifelong fan of Frankie and his work," he commented. "In fact, Matt Lucas and I first bonded as struggling comedians over a shared love of Frankie Howerd impressions."
The hour-long drama is written by Peter Harness who has extensively interviewed Howerd's partner Dennis Heymer.
It is part of a series on comedy legends, also covering Hughie Green, Tony Hancock and Harry H Corbett and Wilfrid Brambell, to air in the spring.
