BBC Three hunts for teen drama

BBC Three controller Danny Cohen has said the channel is looking for two new teen dramas for transmission in winter 2009.
The two pre-watershed series will be commissioned with a fully integrated multimedia component, and in addition to their BBC Three broadcast slot they will also be available on BBC Switch, the corporation's teen offering across TV, radio and broadband.
"Building loyalty with young viewers is crucial to BBC Three," said Cohen. "Developing a slate of returnable, authentic and youthful drama can play a vital role in this."
Before joining BBC Three in April, Cohen oversaw the launch of hit teen series Skins at E4.
Ben Stephenson, the BBC's head of drama commissioning, explained further: "BBC Three drama and BBC Switch have the unique opportunity to showcase hot, burgeoning British talent. We are seeking relevant stories that the target audience can engage with and we're very excited about the potential of breaking the mould of young-skewing series."
