The series was named Best New TV Comedy at the British Comedy Awards earlier this month, while Corden and co-star Ruth Jones scooped the Best Male and Female Newcomer gongs.
Talking about the popularity of the show, which the pair co-wrote, he said: "I wasn't prepared for that. When we wrote it, I didn't even think it would ever be on TV, so it's great, really, really great."
He added: "It's weird. It doesn't really feel like it's this monster hit, because I'm too close to it. It's amazing for myself and Ruth and anyone else involved in it, that the people who watch it genuinely seem to love it, and love the characters and the world that they live in. That is what means the most to us."
Corden and co-star Mathew Horne have been named as the regular presenters of Big Brother's Big Mouth for E4's Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack next month.
The pair recently revealed that they are also writing a sketch show.
