A councillor in Thetford plans to erect a monument to Captain Mainwairing, leader of the fictional Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard in the BBC show.
Stuart Wright, 42, is a huge fan of the programme and said he wants to remember the work of the real platoons during the Second World War.
He aims to raise £20,000 to fund the bronze replica of Mainwairing, who was played by actor Arthur Lowe between 1968 and 1977.
