Oliver show will see chef slaughtering chicks
Published Saturday, Jan 5 2008, 14:46 GMT | By Daniel Kilkelly

Oliver has revealed that he hopes Jamie's Fowl Dinners will encourage viewers to buy free-range chickens.
In the show, Oliver gasses chicks, and stuns and slaughters adult birds. He also discovers that male chicks are killed because they do not lay eggs.
"I hated it. But I don't think it's sensational to show the reality of how chickens live and die," Jamie told The Mirror. "If it changes shopping habits of just five per cent of the viewers, it will be worth it."
Jamie's Fowl Dinners airs at 9pm next Friday on Channel 4.
