BBC Two takes Comedy Unit's 'Empty'

Published Wednesday, Jan 9 2008, 09:19 GMT | By Dave West
BBC Two has commissioned six-part series Empty from RDF subsidiary The Comedy Unit.

Programmes by RDF Media Group companies were banned by the BBC after it produced a misleading trailer featuring the Queen. The ban still applies to RDF Television but was lifted for the subsidiaries last month.

BBC Two therefore has the all-clear to take the sitcom from the Scottish firm which was behind Rab C Nesbitt.

Empty is set in Glasgow and stars Gregor Fisher (Love Actually) and Billy Boyd (Lord of the Rings) as removal men Jacky and Tony.

It is written by Robert Florence and Iain Connell (Legit), directed by Colin Gilbert and produced by Iain Davidson.

It was commissioned by BBC Two controller Roly Keating and executive editor for comedy Cheryl Taylor and will air in the Spring.
