The BBC comedy series, which last aired in December 2003, topped a list organised by Onepoll.

Talking about the comedy show, Onepoll spokesman John Sewell commented: "While you still laugh at the repeats of the oldest shows, it would be great to see some new episodes on our screens."

Also on the list were US sitcom Friends, Liverpool-based soap Brookside and ITV gameshow The Krypton Factor.

The top 10 in full:

1. Only Fools and Horses
2. Friends
3. Fawlty Towers
4. Brookside
5. Sex and the City
