'Daily Show' goes global on CNNI

Jon Stewart's satirical news show, The Daily Show, is to go global on CNN International from September 21, airing in a late-night timeslot at the weekend, going up against Jay Leno's Tonight Show on CNBC Europe.
The Daily Show: Global Edition will offer viewers satire and commentary on American current affairs, combined with Stewart's distinctive flavour of wit.
The news comes as CNN seeks to adjust its lineup. We've already been told that Daljit Dhaliwal will be hosting a new dual-anchored news show when the network relaunches its primetime schedule. Therefore it looks like CNN will be revamping its schedules by September in order to incorporate the new Daily Show: Global Edition show - a significant departure from the network's usual mix of news, sport, weather and occasional feature documentaries.
CNNI Executive VP and General Manager, Rena Golden, said: "Stewart's sharp commentary and observations illustrate the country's ability to find humour in its own customs, newsmakers and leaders. Our viewers are smart and sophisticated with an interest in, and knowledgeable about, America's social, political and entertainment scene. Jon's unique lens on America together with his quick wit, intelligent parody and sharp social commentary will appeal to our late-night weekend viewers."
