The GMTV host revealed her desire to portray a corpse during an interview with the show's star Alex Norton.
She pleaded with the actor, who plays DCI Matt Burke, to “put a word in” on her behalf with the producers of the series.
She told him: "The more gory and disgusting the better."
Taggart has aired on ITV since 1983.
