A man who confessed to cheating on his wife for a new TV game show has revealed that the revelation has strengthened his marriage.
Stuart Brandwood made his confession before being hooked up to a lie detector for Sky One's Nothing But The Truth, which sees contestants answering 21 probing questions truthfully in order to win £50,000.
His wife Amanda had submitted two question suggestions for the programme. One was: "Have you had an affair while you have been together with Amanda?", while the other was: "Have you ever paid for sex abroad?"
When Amanda told Stuart about her submissions, he decided to reveal the truth, rather than letting her find out on the programme.
The affair question did not crop up when Stuart was put to the test, but he was forced to admit that he had paid for sex on his stag night.
"Because of everything he has confessed to, there have been a few tough times for us recently, but now he has a clean slate and I have forgiven him," Mrs Brandwood told the Daily Mail. "I was more angry with him for not telling me about those things and keeping them a secret for years, than what he actually did.
"We always had a strong relationship, and we must have done to have got through this. Amazingly, it has made us closer. We certainly talk a lot more now."
Stuart added: "I had never told her that I had an affair but it happened a long time ago while we were still courting, so I thought it was spent.
"It wasn't easy for her to forgive me but she has. Now that my skeletons are out of the closet, our relationship is great, we are closer than ever and she still loves me. If we can get through this, we can get through anything."
Nothing But The Truth airs on Wednesday at 10pm on Sky One.
