Angus Deayton is keeping his job as host of Have I Got News For You.
The 46-year-old, who hit the tabloids two months ago for cheating on his wife and taking cocaine, was saved from the axe in a meeting between executives of the BBC and production company Hat Trick last week.
A BBC spokesman confirmed that Deayton had signed a new contract and would front a new series of the comedy panel show, in a deal worth £50,000 per episode.
