The 32-year-old, who is the programme's longest-serving female presenter, announced her intention to quit last July.
She later revealed that being forced to apologise to viewers after bosses admitted that they had fixed a phone-in competition had been partly to blame for her decision.
She said of her departure: "Well, 10 years is a good innings and it's good to leave on a high. I'm still enjoying it but I'm ready. I wouldn't say I've burnt out - that sounds bad - but I've done my time, and I'm ready for a bit of a rest maybe."
Huq is expected to present a Question Time-style chatshow, as well as write her own book about her time on the show.
Blue Peter airs today at 5pm on BBC One.
