BBC Three decision delayed again
Published Tuesday, Aug 13 2002, 13:44 BST | By Neil Wilkes
A decision on BBC Three will not be known until at least next month, the government have confirmed.
There had been expectation of an announcement by culture secretary Tessa Jowell at the International TV Festival in Edinburgh towards the end of this month, but it has now been confirmed that she will not be attending.
"We'd like a decision sooner rather than later, but we're waiting patiently for Tessa Jowell to make her decision," a BBC spokesman told News Online. "The decision has always sat with the government, and there has never been a timetable."
