'High School Musical 2'
The new version of the Disney TV movie will open with a 10-week run at the Hammersmith Apollo in June.
The planned show will be a separate production from the 31-date UK tour, which kicks off in Bromley, Kent, tonight.
The musical was a smash hit when it debuted on US TV in January 2006. It has since spawned a sequel, with a third instalment scheduled for a cinema release in October.
High School Musical will be the third Disney show in London, following the success of Mary Poppins and The Lion King.
The new production will be based on the first movie in the franchise, in which Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens play teenagers Troy and Gabriella. Actors have yet to be cast.
