Richard and Judy in talks to save show

Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan are in secret talks with Channel 4 bosses to save their teatime chat show, says The Mirror.

The couple had planned to end their show later this year but are now reportedly in £4 million contract talks with Channel 4 to keep it running.

The pair are discussing the possibility of continuing their chatshow while also working on separate projects.

It had been widely thought that Madeley would continue to broadcast while Finnegan would turn her attention to writing a novel.

Sources for the paper indicated that it is "highly likely" a deal will be reached with Channel 4 to continue the show, while the programme's makers Cactus Television confirmed the couple are holding talks about their next television move.

"We are talking to various different broadcasters about various different projects for post-September," said a source at Cactus.

The Richard and Judy show was hit by controversy last year over misconduct in the programme's "You Say We Pay" competition.

Ofcom later fined Channel 4 £1.5million for breaching viewer competition rules with Richard and Judy and Deal or No Deal.
