The Strictly Come Dancing winner was approached to co-present the revamped series, which originally ran on ITV from 1992 until 2000.
A Sky insider told The Sun: "We thought Alesha would be brilliant as a glamorous host for the show. But she turned us down, which is a real shame."
The broadcaster revealed last month that the popular Saturday night programme will return for a new 10-episode run in May.
Footballer-turned-presenter Ian Wright is rumoured to be taking over hosting duties, following in the footsteps of Ulrika Johnson, John Fashanu and Jeremy Guscott.
