ITV dominated terrestrial and multichannel schedules last night thanks to its Champions League football.
On ITV1 coverage of Manchester United's defeat of Lyon won 5.1m viewers, a 21.2% terrestrial share, from 7.30-10pm. ITV4 aired Arsenal's away win over AC Milan, taking a 1.4m audience, or 6.8% of multichannel homes, at the same time.
The Arsenal match peaked towards the end giving ITV4 a larger audience than BBC Two and Channel 4 between 9.15pm and 9.30pm. It was the channel's second most watched programme since launch.
The football left BBC One's Hotel Babylon losing 800,000 viewers on last week to draw 4.6m (23.7%) at 9pm. Five was in third place for the slot with 2.9m (12.5%) watching CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
On BBC Two a Horizon, Are We Alone in the Universe?, dropped a huge 1.1m viewers from last week to reach 1.9m (7.9%). The Woman Who Stops Traffic on Channel 4 was watched by 1.1m (4.8%).
ITV4 easily outpaced multichannel competition and, on BBC Three, Lily Allen and Friends hit its lowest audience yet with 173,000 (1.5%) at 10.30pm compared to a 464,000 (3.8%) slot average.
