Some 2.2m viewers, a 9.2% share, tuned in to the sci-fi remake at 9pm, taking the record from I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here Now! which drew about 2m in February 2004.
Bionic, starring former EastEnders actress Michelle Ryan, also eclipsed the slot average of 292,000 (1.5%).
ITV2 had another strong newcomer at 10pm with Keith Lemon's Very Brilliant World Tour. It attracted 365,000 (2.2%), up on a 292,000 (1.5%) slot average.
Digital-only competitors failed to come close to ITV2. The nearest at 9pm was BBC Four, where 61,000 (0.3%) watched Storyville Somebody Has to Live: The Journey of..... Sky One was just behind with 41,000 (0.2%) viewers for a Ross Kemp on Gangs repeat.
Bionic managed to pull ahead of Channel 4, too, where The Woman Who Stops Traffic earned a poor 718,000 (3%) audience.
In the US Bionic Woman quickly dropped viewers after a strong start. Reports have suggested it is likely to be axed by NBC.
