A 17% share of viewers tuned in and, although it was well below the show's previous high of 5 million, the figure gave the show its third slot win of the series.
All the terrestrial channels ran a close race at 9pm, however, and BBC One took second place with 3m (13%) watching the first part of The Rock. ITV1 drama Rock Rivals lost another 100,000 viewers week-on-week to reach 2.8m (12%).
Torchwood drew 2.6m (11%) for BBC Two while Five's Extraordinary People: The Girl with Too Much Skin attracted 1.5m (7%).
Channel 4 held a good audience at 10pm when Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares USA reached 3.3m (18%), though it trailed BBC One's 10 O'Clock News, which drew 4.5m (22%). ITV1's News at Ten made third place with an audience of 1.9m (9%).
