The last episode of the extended fifth series was watched by 2.2m viewers, or 13% of the audience, in the hour from 10pm. The average audience for the run was 2.2m (12.6%), easily exceeding the channel's slot average of 1.7m (9.8%).
The News at Ten was also on 2.2m (11.4%), but more precise figures show that ITV1 lost out for second place by 17,000 viewers. BBC One led the slot, though, with 5.3m (26.6%) watching The 10 O'Clock News.
Only 525,000 (2.7%) were interested in Later Live… with Jools Holland, in the half hour from 10pm on BBC Two, though the channel did a little better earlier in the evening with a new documentary series. Peter Taylor's The Age of Terror attracted 1.1m (4.6%) at 9pm.
